The Tin Man's Pumpkins

This must be the Tin Man's house. Look . . . there's his oil can!

Random Seasonal Display

What are these anyway? Well, they looked very nice mixed in with the greenery in a pot along a side street in Lambertville the day after Thanksgiving.

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

What a face! You couldn't find a better behaved dinner guest anywhere . . .

Pumpkin Pie

All right, I'll say it. This is the picture perfect pumpkin pie crust!

Love Is Everywhere

Found this potato chip in the bag I bought to have with my lunch on the last nice day of 2009! Well, at least the last day nice enough to have lunch outside.

Who Buys a Cat?

I cannot take credit for the caption! It was actually part of a conversation I was once witnessed between two friends of mine. The woman was discussing her various cats and where she had purchased them and what type they were, etc. etc. The man just kept asking, "Who buys a cat?" This one has been hanging out in our front and back yards and I am struggling to resist the urge to put out food for her. Winter's coming and I feel bad for her (which is ironic because I am not a cat lover), but I know if I feed her, she's mine!!

Fall Colors

A most unusual and striking display of fall color.

Pumpkin Seeds

Shiny, white pumpkin seeds.

Penns Landing

Another reflection photo-op I couldn't pass up. This is one of my favorites.

Dumbarton Oaks

Fall foliage of trees, located on the grounds of Dumbarton Oaks, reflected in a neglected pool.

Rocks

I guess these actually qualify as boulders!

Blue Brick

I loved this slate-blue colored brick on a walkway in DC.

Pumpkins for Sale

Quite an assortment of pumpkin shapes, sizes, and textures for sale at Eastern Market.

An Early Christmas?

An early glimpse of holly and berries and a non-commercial sign that the holiday season is coming!

Dana's Dogwood, Late Fall

A late fall shot of Dana's dogwood - the leaves are more copper-colored.

Michener Museum

Sculpture outside the entrance to the James A. Michener Museum.

Nothing Like a Good Book #2

Statue outside the Doylestown Public Library. In contrast, the outside of our local library is decidedly lacking in anything aesthetically pleasing. There are numerous "One Way" signs mandating traffic flow - certainly not anything that would bring a smile to your face like this adorable little boy.

Bye, Bye, Birdie(s)

Last sighting of the baby birds. I keep checking, but they haven't been back. I'll miss watching them, but hope they get to a warmer climate soon!

Eat Your Greens

Delicious green beans for dinner!

Dana's Dogwood

Fall version of Dana's Dogwood.

Testing, testing

Mommy bird is gone and these two siblings have ventured out of the nest and are trying to figure out what these big flappy things are for!

Window Panes

Pane of glass seen in Marlow, England.
The glass panes in this door, spotted in Greenwich Village, reminded me of the door I saw in Marlow, England.

If it were only that simple.

Official sign in Greenwich Village.

Expensive Walls

Beautiful Swarovski Crystal walls in Rockefeller Center.

Simon Says "Raise your arm."

The Statue of Liberty from the Brooklyn Bridge. Are these cranes mocking her?

Doing My Part

Apparently I am helping to protect the American Elm everyday . . . simply by being nowhere near it.

An Unexpected Find

Happened upon Bethesda Fountain in Central Park . . . I love this flower's reflection in the water.

Yikes!

This guy actually took a break from spinning to pose for me.

Baby Bird Update

After being gone for a week, I was surprised by how fast the babies became birds!

Missing New York

Home one day and missing the new pedestrian-friendly Times Square.

Good Advice . . .

but is this advice really necessary?

Greenwich Village

Seen on our tour of Greenwich Village.

The Brooklyn Bridge

A first for me . . . walking across a bridge . . . well, a bridge of this magnitude.

At Your Service

Horse-drawn carriages lining Central Park, ready and waiting for customers on a cool, blustery, fall day.

Stone, plexiglass & aluminum

This view of steps in the New York Public Library reveals the stone wall of the reservoir that the library is built on.

No "Sun" Day

The geranium as weather indicator.

Late Bloomer

This photo doesn't do justice to this beautiful hibiscus blossom, which may be the last one of the season.

Feeding Time

Day 5 in the life of the baby birds living literally just outside one of our windows. Mommy is feeding this one. The babies look more like birds after just a few short days.

A Common Thread

A close up of the centerpiece for my book club meeting today. Can you guess the book? . . . The Seamstress by Frances des Pontes Peebles.

Hanging in there . . .

A delicate balance of nature here this week. This teeny, tiny frog is climbing the screen door.

A Mother's Work Is Never Done

I was shooting quickly to catch this mother bird cleaning up the nest after the birth of her babies.

Squirt Contest

A contest between hippo and frog as to who can squirt water farther and the hippo's effort compared to the frog's effort-less-ness.

Embracing Fall

My new favorite time of year - autumn (take that "summer"). I spotted this almost perfect pumpkin.

Nothing Like a Good Book

A sculpture in Princeton I have walked past a hundred times. (I could not figure out what book this man is reading and he was no help.)
